The flowers appear from July through to September and their warm, luminous colours make them a stand-out feature in the late-summer flower bed. Black-Eyed Susan is especially well suited to herbaceous borders in cottage gardens, prairie gardens and natural gardens, and also as a container plant. Not only does it look good but insects love it, too, as it's a good source of nectar.
The flowers also make an excellent cut flower for home-grown colourful autumn bouquets.
