Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica)

asiatica is chiefly valued as a revitalizing herb that strengthens nervous function and memory. In India it is a common saying that elephants, who are very fond of Gotu Kola, gain their good memory from eating it. Centella asiatica is also used in India to promote meditation. The leaves taste pleasantly spicy. Gotu Kola grows as a creeping plant in humid forests. Kept in pots it forms long overhanging branches. Other names for Centella asiatica are Indian or Asian marsh pennywort, tiger grass, Brahmi, Fo-Ti-Tieng or Gotu Kola.
